About DR. ROB

Most of my readers/listeners are fairly normal people. They want to grow themselves to be better leaders, family members, and friends, and they want their lives to make a difference. Is it possible to have a successful work life without selling out your family life? Can you be results-focused and still care about people? Those are real questions that deserve real answers.

But that is not always what you get.

A great number of blogs and podcasts out there are just someone's opinion. Don't get me wrong, some of them are outstanding and super helpful (MichaelHyatt.com; JamesClear.com, etc.). But the vast majority are not going to help the average person grow to be the person they always hoped to be.

LeaderTribe is different (and so am I). Wait, did he really mean to say that he is "different?"

Yes, because it's true. I'm a little crazy. I've done the research, I've earned a PhD and have taught for some outstanding universities. But I'm not an academic geek. I want to live life to its fullest! You can find me acting goofy for my grandkids, then helping some of the world's leading organizations to achieve clarity and focus. I've successfully led several companies, and now I want to help others who want to grow. Here is a small sample of my crazy life:

  • I've been to over 50 countries, and I've taken cooking classes in many of them.
  • I volunteer to mentor men who didn't have a father growing up—because I didn't either.
  • ‍I've been married for over 30 years to the amazing Dawn.
  • ‍I study some every. single. day. (Because I love it!)
  • ‍I've failed more times than I can count, but I make no excuses, I learn from them, and I try again.
  • ‍Oh yeah, I've been to over 100 of the restaurants from the "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" TV Show on the Food Network.

My podcast "Your Daily Dose of Growth" and my blogs are not based on someone's opinion or anecdotal information. I find remarkable research studies, then break them down into "easy to understand" concepts, then I always have a point of application. And I have a ton of fun doing it. Listen to an episode of my podcast--you'll see what I mean!

I've been to the bottom...

And it's not pretty. In the late 90's I was burned out, feeling misunderstood, and not able to do my best work. Looking back, going through that experience of brokenness was really good for me. I was forever trying to look a certain way or act like I knew more than I really did. It was exhausting.

Life is different now. I don't have anything to prove or anything to gain; I simply want to remain a lifelong learner who loves and encourages people along the journey. I'm free to be myself, I tell the truth in my coaching and consulting, and I want to learn something fascinating from every person I meet.

Where are you in your journey? Would you like to travel the road with like minded friends who won't stop growing and won't stop having fun? If that sounds like a journey you'd like to take, then join the tribe, the LeaderTribe!
