Let loose a little and party for productivity!

Reasons why you should celebrate

Sometimes, people have this notion that busy people aren’t supposed to have fun! I’ve even seen a sign that said, “Immature”--a word that boring people use to describe fun people.

It’s time to have fun because research shows that you should always strive to celebrate your successes and winning moments! Celebrating success and recognizing milestones goes a long way toward future effort.

Here are my favorite reasons why celebrations are important.

  1. Celebrations improve productivity. Since celebrations help affirm what people did, this gives them a sense of accomplishment and they are inspired to do more. This leads to increased productivity.
  2. Celebrations strengthen collaboration and teamwork. Teams love this and it improves their performance and enhances how they work together. Even celebrating small wins can already go a long way!
  3. Celebrations energize us! Stu McLaren wrote about this for one of Michael Hyatt’s guest blogs. Admit it—it feels good to be acknowledged for some things you did. Celebrations fuel this feeling inside us and motivates us to keep doing more. They naturally bring positive energy, and can transform the way people work together.
  4. Celebrations make people happier. Research shows that expressing positive feelings can actually make you feel happier—even if you didn’t feel that way in the beginning. And guess what? Happier people are more productive people!

So, in the words of Kool and the Gang, “Celebrate Good Times, C’mon!” I did a short podcast episode on celebration, so you may want to check that out here.

Go for it!
